When Cherwell Laboratories needed cooling and environmental control for their temperature monitored finished goods and raw materials warehouse in Bicester, they turned to PremiAir Comfort Ltd for the solution. David Hedges from PremiAir visited the site and found that Cherwell needed to maintain Pharmaceutical cGMP compliant conditions for their storage of microbiological products, taking account of planning restrictions and existing environmental systems, while keeping the capital and energy costs to a minimum. An integrated approach to the temperature control system design was essential.

To meet the specification, PremiAir selected three of Seeley’s Breezair TBA-550 top discharge evaporative coolers, matched to low noise extract fans. The entire system is controlled automatically by central IWC10 Industrial Wall Controllers from Seeley. Two coolers serve the more critical finished goods warehouse, with the top discharge option allowing the coolers to deliver clean, cool, fresh air at high level into the space while remaining below the roof line to meet the planning constraints. Two speed controlled roof extract fans balance the airflow with the coolers to maintain the desired conditions automatically. The less critical raw materials store is served by a third top discharge TBA-550 matched to one wall mounted extract fan, again controlled automatically.

Martyn Young, Cherwell Laboratories’ Operations Director, said “In addition to providing compliant conditions for the high value stock and safe and comfortable working conditions for the warehouse staff, the system installation was well managed and went extremely smoothly, with minimal disruption to our production activities.”

The Breezair evaporative cooling system uses a fraction of the energy consumed by alternative designs, and was delivered by PremiAir Comfort as a full turnkey package with no unexpected extra costs. The entire installation took only two weeks to complete.
